Raven
The familiar Crows larger cousin lives here in Alaska.
This very intelligent bird is also a representative of many Alaska Native folklore.
It is a creator, a healer, a harbinger of bad news and much more.
When I was a baby, my father found 3 ravens that had fallen from a high cliff nest.
He raised them to adults and freed them. I remember them flying over me as I lay outside in our fishcamp.
Carved from Walrus ivory and painted with India ink on old walrus jawbone base.
Made in Alaska by Leonard Savage.
